Home!!

Hiya all, well, I have decided to head back home for a while, there are a few things I should of sorted out in person before I came over, but the job offer came very quick and I thought I could do everything by phone and e-mail, WRONG!!! Westcan have been a great firm to work for, and hopefully I will get back in time to continue my employment with them, but if not, it has nothing to do with the firm, I was treated very well, and made more friends here in 4 months than I did back home in 44years!! But there are some things that I just have to do in person.
If I get eveything sorted soon, I'll definatley come back to Canada, as I've said the people are great, the scenery is fantastic, and the money wasn't too bad either! I'll keep you posted, cya...

Class 1

Passed my class 1 last week, had to do theory class 7, then wait for 2 weeks before I could do class 5 (car), then had to wait another couple of weeks until I could do my class 1, passed that last Friday, so I have been out training all week, been interesting to say the least, its a whole different ball game than the 20years driving I did back home, having to learn all over again.

licence

Just found out that although I have a U.K. driving licence, it isn't the right knid of U.K. licence as it was issued from Coleraine and not Swansea, so I will have to take my car driving test as well! Ah well, someone did warn me a wee while ago and I ignored them thinking I knew best, well SORRY you were right, but I usually am!!!

Police clearence

Got my police clearence on Saturday, came back no trace, which is what it should be, but i always feel guilty about something, so wasn't too sure what it would be!! Phoned today aout my employment history from national insurence office, they said it was postd 2nd class on the 25th so should get it today, but didn't, I am off work today, and wanted to get everything sorted out and sent away, there is a firm interested in hiring me, and as I was told last monday that we are going to be laid off shortly, I am in a hurry!!

paperwork

Finally got round to getting paperwork for police clearence sent away, also sent letter to tax office requesting my work history, not too sure how long that will take. As far as the clean licence abstract goes, according to D.V.L.N.I. in Coleraine, the paper part of licence is our version and that will do, so just have to wait and see.

Over the hill, gathering speed!

Hiya, well, we had a meeting last week and were told that our part of the company was loosing money due to a few accidents and mishaps , i.e, crossovers, hitting things like cars and gates, and such, and that there was going to be lay offs shortly. It was made clear that it wouldn't be last in first out, just whether they liked you or not. good eh! So, at the age of 43, with 18yrs class 1 experience, mostley in Tankers, I think it is time I move on, and Canada seems to be a good place to go, so if anyone knows of any jobs going, let me know, I'm going to look into it at more depth this week, so i'll let you all know how things go.
